Why We Need to Zoom Out — It’s Not Right vs. Left, It’s Top vs. Bottom

Normally, I don’t engage in heated political conversations online — they often spiral into arguments instead of understanding. But this one was different. It was raw, honest, and revealing, and I decided it needed to be shared. Because it highlights exactly why it’s so important that we educate, empower, and unite right now — before the divisions between us grow too deep to bridge.
💬 The Conversation
Him:
Talking about freedoms when the left has done anything and everything to silence, control, and attack anyone that doesn’t agree entirely with their ridiculous ideology? The TDS is pretty hysterical.
Me:
I’m just really curious — where are you getting your information?
Him:
You mean the experiences I’ve had? I’ve lived in actual blue areas — West LA specifically — where I coached at a “progressive” school. I’ve seen people taken to court over “misgendering.” I’ve watched parents lose custody over their children, even in Montana, for being against their children transitioning.
I started college in the education department and saw what was being taught there and switched majors because it was disgusting.
I’ve read the files on how the previous administration pressured social media companies to censor us. I’ve watched the gaslighting and experienced it firsthand. I’ve seen the liberal ideology up close — people celebrating the attacks on anyone opposing them, canceling others with differing opinions, and screaming when people call their bosses and get them fired for celebrating terrorism.
I’ve lived all over the country, worked with people on all sides. I’ve taken pride in seeing other perspectives.
At this point though? No Kings?
I answered your question. Now I’d love to see you answer mine:
Where are you protesting the appointment of Kamala Harris?
Where are you protesting removing people from ballots?
Where are you protesting the government censoring anyone on social media?
Where’s your outrage when the left is doing what you hate the right for allegedly doing?
Me:
I really appreciate your perspective and your experiences — but that’s not what I asked.
I asked where you’re getting your information about what’s happening in our government, our country, and our world — because that’s important right now.
You also wrote this as if I don’t agree that some of what you described is despicable. I do. I disagree with what the government is doing on both sides.
But right now? We’re already deep into fascism.
I don’t have “TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome)” I’m Autistic, and I have pattern recognition. History is repeating itself.
You seem to assume I’m a Democrat. I’m not. I don’t identify with a party at all — I identify with who holds my values.
What I’ve learned through experience and education is that the majority of politicians are corrupt. We’re not fighting a Right vs. Left war — we’re fighting a Top vs. Bottom war.
And all this political chaos? It’s a distraction from the bigger picture. You need to zoom out.
I don’t think Trump or Harris were good fits for president, so I didn’t vote — not that it’s anyone’s business.
But forgive me if I’m wrong — it kind of feels like you’re looking for a fight.
I’m just not sure when being pro–human rights became such a radical stance.
I’m a veteran, a woman, and disabled. What’s happening in this country directly affects my life.
You have your own unique experience, which is valuable — but you’re missing perspective. Because you’re a white, able-bodied, cisgender male, a lot of what’s happening right now doesn’t impact you… yet.
💡 Why I Shared This
I didn’t share this to “own” anyone or prove a point.
I shared it because this is what division looks like in real time.
Both of us were speaking from lived experience, but our realities were shaped by completely different information ecosystems. We both believe we’re fighting for truth and freedom — and yet, we’re fighting each other.
That’s not by accident. That’s by design.
The people in power want us divided. They want us distracted by party lines and outrage cycles, so we never notice what’s actually happening — the slow erosion of our rights, our privacy, and our ability to think critically.
This isn’t about Democrats vs. Republicans anymore.
It’s about human beings vs. systems of control.
And if we don’t learn to question, listen, and lead with empathy, we’ll keep repeating history — one algorithm, one headline, one argument at a time.
📸 The Bigger Picture
At the end of the day, I don’t care what political label someone wears.
What I care about is whether they stand for truth, justice, compassion, and freedom — for everyone.
It’s not about being “woke” or “patriotic.”
It’s about being awake.
So, zoom out.
Question what you’re told.
Recognize patterns.
And remember: it’s not us against each other.
It’s us against the systems that keep us from seeing that we’re all on the same side.
